Ecosystem

FOLIO as a project and as a product can perhaps best be described as an eco-system for library software. The FOLIO platform allows apps developed by third parties to run and be used by end users. The FOLIO store enables the distribution of new apps. The hosting providers, be they libraries or vendors, can make it easier for some institutions to run the system. The community helps all these things get built in a way that’s meaningful for the people who actually have to use the software; in a way that is respectful of institutions’ need for data security and respectful of their patrons’ data privacy.

The FOLIO platform is the basis for running any apps or plugins in FOLIO.
